Jason Kende is an important youth rights operative who currently lives in New York.
Contributions to the movement
Recognizing the value of defending the essential freedoms of youth at a very young age, he has played an important role in the youth rights movement for many years. He officially joined Oblivion in Spring of 1998, taking on duties as YR News Editor soon after. He joined the Board of Directors for Oblivion at the end of 1998. Involved in various supporting roles with NYRA since 2000-2001, he was elected to the NYRA Board of Directors for the 2003-2004 term and again in 2008-2009. He is the current Chair of NYRA's Budget & Finance and Design & Tech Committees, and an active member of the Expansion and Positions Committees. He remains an active leader of the NYC chapter, working closely with Ana Hevesi, Pamela Tatz, and Brian Lombrowski.
Jason has done a lot of work in unofficial capacities for NYRA. His accomplishments include significant contributions towards the creation of the Youth Rights Network wiki, the upgrade of NYRA's forums from the antiquated version of UBB previously used, and the installation of most of the blog software used by NYRA chapter and national. He has served as the president of Oblivion since 2003 (?), and hopes some day to see it revived after a multi-year dormant period.
His current YR projects include a Youth Rights Video Production effort, a Student Arts program, and the always informative "other projects". His non-YR passtimes include running two startup for-profit enterprises: Untuckable (a retail website focusing on prints and apparel, which donates a portion of profits from each sale to non-profits, including NYRA), and ikncreative (a creative design and web development company). He continues to be available for the occasional late night chat about important NYRA issues.
