Dustin Manuel
From YRN
Dustin Manuel was born in Plano, Texas. Dustin spent the first 10 years of his life "bouncing around the central time zone" as he often says. From Chicago, to Kansas City, to Mansfield, Illinois (population 900), he lived in a large variety of places.
During his freshman year at McKinney High School, he was assigned to debate, as a class project, that discrimination based on age should be illegal. In doing this project, he discovered NYRA (www.youthrights.org) and ASFAR (www.asfar.org). He became interested in the Youth Rights Movement, and became involved (after winning his debate in class).
That same year he became interested, he started writing short stories about issues that interested him. "Age is Wasted on the Old" was published in ASFAR's Youth Truth 'zine the next year when his writing began to develop. Dustin served on the NYRA Board of Directors for the 2000-2001 term.
Now, he majors in music composition at San Francisco State University, as well as continuing his writing. "Age is Wasted On the Old" can be found in Musings, which is available on Amazon.com or Lulu.com. He is currently working on The Victory Saga, a novel about a few young people, in college and high school, leading an evacuation during a fictional invasion of the United States.
