About

Hein founded YouthSpeak because, while an honors student and sophomore in high school, he felt disenfranchised. While head of YouthSpeak, he was intereviewed for national and international publications and, along with Keith Mandell, coordinated America's first protests for lower-than-18 voting age, the May 22, 1998 Voting Age Protests. He served as Vice President and President of ASFAR before co-founding NYRA. Along with Matt Herman, Josh Gilbert and Matt Walcoff, Avi is considered one of NYRA's foremost "founding fathers." He is partially responsible for establishing the modern youth rights movement. Along with future NYRA President Alex Koroknay-Palicz, Avi founded NYRA-American University, NYRA's first chapter.
