Biography

King joined NYRA in January 2005, after wanting to learn more about the youth rights movement. In March 2005, he became the Assistant South Chapter Formation Captain, and later, in July 2005, he was promoted to the position of South Region Captain. The main responsibility for that position was to assist chapter intents in the south region of the United States. In 2005, Adam ran for the NYRA Board of Directors, but he was not elected.

From December 2005 to December 2006, King was a member of the "NYRA Freedom" editorial staff, where he contributed features, articles about staff and the board of directors, archived issues online, and obtained the publication's ISSN. And in January 2006, he was promoted to the position of Chapter Formation Supervisor by Keith Mandell and Alex Koroknay-Palicz. Until September 2006, he remained the South Region Captain concurrently. As the Chapter Formation Supervisor, he was responsible for training and recruiting chapter formation representatives.

In August of 2006, King was elected to the Board of Directors and became the vice president of the organization. A year later, in August 2007, he was appointed president of NYRA; however, due to a lack of time, he resigned in November 2007.

King is currently a member of SoundOut's advisory board.

School campaign

Between February 2006 and August 2006, King coordinated a local campaign in Asheville to add a student adviser onto the Buncombe County Board of Education, the local school board. He made significant progress and throughout that time, he accumulated dozens of appearances in the news media.
